Rehearsal and choices

Work the scene until you are ready to tape

Some scenes need one run. Others need ten. Repeat the scene, stay with one section, try a different choice or adjust the reader without having to wait for someone else every time.

The reader can stay consistent while your work keeps changing.

Find the rhythm

Work with the cues, timing and space between the lines until you can stop thinking about the mechanics and stay in the scene.

Try another version

Follow a different impulse, work with a note or change the pace. You can run it again without treating the previous version as the “right” one.

Adjust the reader

Give yourself more space where you need it, change the pace or shorten a pause. The reader should support the scene, not dictate your performance.

Stay with the part you need

Repeat one cue, line or section without running the whole scene again. When it feels useful, return to the full scene.

Some work is better with another person

A human reader gives you real response and unpredictability. A coach can see things you may not see yourself and help you go deeper into the scene.

Self Tape Partner is not meant to replace either of them. It is there for the times between those collaborations — when you want to learn the scene, try something, repeat a section or simply get the work done without waiting for someone else to be available.
