1. Who is responsible for your data?
Self Tape Partner is operated by CN Selftape. CN Selftape is responsible for the personal data described in this policy, except where another company processes information as an independent data controller for its own service.
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to:
info@selftapepartner.com2. What this policy covers
This policy applies when you use the Self Tape Partner app, website, account features, support channels and related services.
A third-party service, such as an app store, may have its own privacy policy for information it collects directly. Its independent processing is governed by that provider's policy.
3. Personal data we may process
The information processed depends on the features you use. It may include:
- Account information: your name, email address, account identifier and authentication information.
- Scene and reader information: scripts, audition sides, detected characters, dialogue, selected role, corrections, timing and reader settings.
- Audio and video: recordings you choose to create, store or send through a feature that supports them.
- Technical information: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash information, security logs and timestamps.
- Usage information: information about how app and website features are used, where this is necessary for operation, security or approved analytics.
- Purchase information: subscription status, transaction identifiers and entitlement information received from the relevant app store or payment provider.
- Support information: messages, diagnostic details and files you actively choose to provide when requesting assistance.
- Communication preferences: marketing consent, subscription status and unsubscribe records.
4. Scripts, audition sides and recordings
Scripts, audition sides, audio and video may contain confidential, copyrighted or personally sensitive information. They are processed only to provide the functions you request and to maintain the service.
Uploading material does not give Self Tape Partner permission to publish, sell or use it for advertising.
Your scripts, audio and video will not be used to train AI models unless you receive a separate explanation and actively provide explicit permission for that specific use.
Support does not automatically receive access to the contents of your scripts. If material is necessary to investigate a problem, you must actively choose to send or share it.
You are responsible for ensuring that you are permitted to upload and use the material you add to Self Tape Partner. Further information is available in the Copyright Policy.
5. Why we process personal data
Personal data may be processed to:
- Create, manage and secure your account.
- Process scenes and provide the reader and rehearsal functions you request.
- Save your settings, scenes and progress where the relevant feature supports saving.
- Confirm purchases, subscriptions and access to paid features.
- Respond to support requests and investigate technical problems.
- Protect users, accounts and systems against fraud, abuse and unauthorized access.
- Diagnose errors, monitor stability and improve the reliability of the product.
- Send service messages concerning accounts, security, purchases or important product changes.
- Send marketing only where the recipient has provided the required consent or another lawful basis applies.
- Comply with accounting, tax, legal and regulatory obligations.
6. Legal bases for processing
Performance of a contract: data needed to create an account, provide requested app functions, confirm access and respond to service-related requests.
Legitimate interests: data needed to secure the service, prevent misuse, investigate errors and improve product stability, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Consent: marketing communications, optional non-essential analytics or cookies and any separately proposed use of scripts, audio or video for marketing or AI training.
Legal obligations: information that must be processed or retained to comply with accounting, tax, regulatory or lawful authority requirements.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the consent was withdrawn.
8. International data transfers
Some technical providers may process information outside the European Economic Area.
Where personal data is transferred internationally, the transfer must rely on an approved legal mechanism, such as an adequacy decision, approved standard contractual clauses or another safeguard permitted under applicable data protection law.
9. How long information is retained
Personal data is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including operation of the service, security, support and legal obligations.
Account and project information may be retained while your account remains active. When you request account deletion, information is deleted or anonymized unless continued retention is required for security, accounting, dispute resolution or another legal obligation.
Material removed from active systems may remain temporarily in restricted backups until those backups are replaced through the ordinary backup cycle.
Support records are retained only as long as needed to resolve and document the relevant issue. Marketing contact information is retained until consent is withdrawn, with a minimal suppression record retained where necessary to respect the unsubscribe request.
10. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect personal data against unauthorized access, accidental loss, alteration and disclosure.
Access should be limited to the people and providers who need information to operate, secure or support the service.
No internet service can guarantee absolute security. You should protect your login details and retain your own copy of important scripts and audition material.
11. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Receive information about how your data is processed.
- Request access to your personal data.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Request deletion of personal data where the legal conditions are met.
- Request restriction of processing in certain situations.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
- Receive eligible data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Submit a complaint to the relevant data protection authority.
Rights are not absolute and may depend on the reason for processing and applicable legal requirements. Identity verification may be required before a request is completed.
Requests can be sent to info@selftapepartner.com.
Account deletion information is available on the Delete Account page.
You may also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency or the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
12. Marketing communications
Marketing emails are sent only where the required consent or another valid legal basis exists.
You can withdraw marketing consent by using the unsubscribe link included in an email, visiting the unsubscribe page or contacting Self Tape Partner.
Account, purchase, security and essential service messages are not marketing and may still be sent where necessary to operate your account or provide the service.
14. Children and younger users
Self Tape Partner is not intended to collect personal data from a person who is not legally able to create and manage an account independently without the required involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
A parent or guardian who believes that a child has provided personal data without the required permission should contact Self Tape Partner so the situation can be reviewed.
15. Automated processing
Self Tape Partner may use automated processing to identify characters, dialogue, punctuation and other elements in an uploaded scene.
Automated results can contain errors. You remain able to review and correct the scene before using the reader.
Self Tape Partner does not use your scene material to make automated decisions about casting, employment or other matters that produce legal or similarly significant effects for you.
16. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the service, providers, data practices or legal requirements change.
The date at the top of the page shows when the current version was last updated. Additional notice will be provided where required for material changes.
